Savannah Backpack Mission Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in 2021 by me, Lilli Apt, to raise money for children attending local city summer camps. The funds are used to buy drawstring backpacks and water bottles.
98% of the children who attend these camps qualify for free school lunches. Many of the children come to these camps using a plastic shopping bag to hold their belongings and water bottles.
Last summer, 2024, we raised $10,967 and handed out 650 backpacks and water bottles across 13 camps.
We are hoping our fifth year will be just as successful. My brother, Will, has been getting more involved as he gets older and will be by my side helping out.
